Catch Report: Wishing on a rainbow

“Br ........rroommmm” ... flashes of thunder constantly brighten the sky. I have just brought the baits and driving towards the meeting ground. How da?

The sky was still rumbling as we unloaded our gears at the car park but the sky on our right was clear. We decided to paddle on. But as soon as we reached the angling zone ... We could see the wind blowing a blur horizon towards us. We immediately made U-turn!

We stayed near launch site as the sky poured on us. Thankfully both of us have got our raincoat on. The sky finally cleared up at about 10am .. there was even a rainbow in the sky. I wished for big fished.

Paddled back to the gentle drop-off, anchored and waited. Missed a fish ‘take’ while chatting away with Mathew ... then it was quite throughout. Beautiful calm water but no fish. Before long, Mathew had to leave but I continued to stay on a little while more as the weather was nice and we have lots of baits still.

Just as he was leaving ... he mentioned .. “ don’t come SMS later and tell me you got a big one .... or something special "

Shortly after Mathew left ... I managed to land a decent Chowxi .... which nibble nibble gently until I gave it a tug and set in the hook. It is probably just below a kilo. An hour passed ... nothing.

Giving up for the day ... I started slow trolling on my kayak. ... the current and wind was leading me back to the launch site. It was a nice drift .... I just control the direction that I want to go ..... I wasn’t in a hurry .....so no paddling required!

Halfway back where I could already see the children playing on the beach ....... “ZZZzzzzzzzz .......”, as I lifted the rod out .... I could see this hugh wide open mouth with a muscular silver body jumping out and gasping for air then “SPLASH" .... what a sight ... what a monster .... and Splashed again and again .... now... Mathew is gonna hate me! The fish was fighting against the drift of my kayak ... it played out on the surface without pulling much lines from my reel.

Well sometime .... wishes do come true.

Someone did said, "Ask and you shall receive."
